Think of Richard Leschen as a New Zealand
version of James McMurty. His songs on his latest
release, Black Horses, are comfortable backporch
music best suited for the end of a hard day of work and a cold beer. His easy
going vocal style belie a knack for literary detail and story telling that's
way above the typical folk singer. Highlights from Black Horses include the
title track, "Poppies and Thieves," "Kalgoorlie
Mine," and "Bed Monkey."
